Job Description

The Kenai Trial Court of the Alaska Court System is accepting applications for a Court Case Manager 1 (salary range 10). This position will perform case processing duties and serve as a primary contact with the public.

* Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for advance step placement.

* Employees working in this job classification will be considered for annual salary increases upon successful completion of a 1-year probationary period. This job classification will promote to range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court.

The Position

This position serves as the first point of contact for customers, providing professional, courteous, and efficient service while assessing customer needs, processing payments, maintaining accurate cash handling records, and ensuring a balanced cash drawer. The incumbent performs specialized case processing duties, develops expertise in assigned case types, and maintains accurate case records through regular audits and quality control measures. Cross-training is expected to support workflow, customer service, and team coverage across multiple case types.

Additional responsibilities may include courtroom support, records management, inventory control, basic technology troubleshooting, staff training, and participation in special projects, meetings, and committees. The successful candidate must be able to multitask, maintain accuracy and attention to detail, exercise sound judgment, and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.

This position is assigned to the court's classified service; the incumbent will attain regular status after completion of the initial probationary period.

The Work Environment

Our court is located on Trading Bay Drive on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula. The office staff includes a variety of clerical and administrative positions that work as a team to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System.

Work Schedule

Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience.

Substitution:

Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.

Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.

If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
