The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for a full-time Protective Service Specialist 4 located in Juneau, Alaska. What you will be doing This position is responsible for ensuring safe children and strong families through providing support for the agency in achieving timely permanency outcomes for children in care. The individual in this position is responsible for supervising two Protective Services Specialists and one Social Services Associate. This position is based in Juneau and is responsible for Regional Permanency Specialist duties for both the Southeast and Western Regions. This position identifies and removes barriers to permanency for children and families and ensures case work decisions adhere to OCS policy and procedure, the practice model, and Federal and State statutes and regulations. The individual in this position will maintain a tracking system for children in out-of-home care, conduct regular reviews of cases through a permanency lens, ensure timely referrals for home studies are made and will read and approve completed home studies and home study updates. The position will consult with OCS staff and partners regarding permanency related issues. For positions in this job class, a child protective history check will be performed per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315 including a background and fingerprint check.
