Wasilla, Kenai & Homer $38.91 Hourly / $2,918.25 Biweekly (200) The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for full-time Protective Service Specialist 3 - TDM Facilitator in Wasilla, Kenai and/or Homer, Alaska. What you will be doing The individual in this position is an advanced-level caseworker providing highly skilled services in cases that are complicated by topics such as media reporting or multiple social problems and cultural issues that require incumbents to have considerable knowledge of the social work practices and principles and client base. Team Decision Making Facilitators are responsible for facilitating meetings between families, tribes, providers, legal parties and OCS. These discussions all revolve around the safe and appropriate intervention and placement of children. A strong TDM facilitator will develop excellent communication, de-escalation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. They will have a strong knowledge of the OCS practice model and be skilled at applying critical thinking to a variety of situations. Working environment you can expect The location for this position will be in either Wasilla, Homer, or Kenai, depending on the selected candidate. The Team Decision Making Facilitator is part of the Wasilla Leadership Team and serves as one of two facilitators for the South-Central Region. In addition to regional responsibilities, this position is also a member of the Statewide TDM Team, which includes six TDM facilitators, a full-time scheduler, and a centralized supervisor. The Office of Children’s Services requires staff to work after hours and on-call. Overtime is also an expectation when deemed necessary. OCS staff are considered essential, so are expected to work during pandemic and other natural disasters. Special Note This position requires a valid Alaska Driver's License and successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check. Additionally, while the Division does have vehicles assigned to it, they may not always be available for staff use. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work-related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the State. For positions in this job class, a child protective history check will be performed per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315 including a background and fingerprint check.
