recruiting for a full-time

Protective Services Manager 1

located in Juneau, Alaska.

What you will be doing

• Manage social service programs and personnel through subordinate supervisors to ensure consistent, appropriate delivery of services.

• Supervise, train, and evaluate lower-level supervisors; set performance standards, assign work, and take corrective or disciplinary actions when necessary.

• Review and approve major case decisions, audits, and studies to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies.

• Collaborate with community partners, tribal organizations, and other agencies to coordinate resources, resolve complex cases, and support program development.

• Analyze program needs, compile reports, recommend staffing and policy changes, and participate in regional budgeting and planning.

We work in Juneau, Alaska and have one of the few offices located in the Valley of Juneau.

Our Offices offer plenty of parking and we are conveniently located near many restaurants and stores for easy access to lunch and shopping options. We are also located near the bus line if that is your preferred method of travel.

Special Note

This position requires a valid Alaska driver's license.

Additionally, while the Division does have vehicles assigned to it, they may not always be available for staff use. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work-related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the State.

For positions in this job class, a child protective history check will be performed per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315 including a background and fingerprint check.

The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses normally located in Anchorage.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.

Human Capital Management: Builds and manages workforce based on organizational goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs. Ensures that employees are appropriately recruited, selected, appraised, and rewarded; takes action to address performance problems. Manages a multi-sector workforce and a variety of work situations.

Partnering: Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.

Training in a social science, behavioral science, health science, guidance and counseling, or a closely related field;

AND/OR

Progressively responsible professional supervisory experience providing assistance, information or referrals to the general public related to social services, health care, or legal services; providing child, adult, family, or group case management, licensing, or probation services; or providing care or services to delinquent juveniles.
