ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Nurse (RN) who enjoys developing others and building strong clinical teams. In this role, you’ll serve as a key leader for clinical education across the organization, providing training, coaching, and professional development for nurses and medical assistants. Beyond individual training, you’ll help create a connected and collaborative learning environment by partnering closely with leadership across the clinical departments- Laboratory, Pharmacy, Imaging/X-Ray, Dental and other care teams. Together, you'll develop and align educational programs, support clinical best practices, and ensure staff have the knowledge and resources needed to deliver exceptional patient care. This position is ideal for a nurse who is energized by collaboration, enjoys building relationships across departments, and is passionate about helping clinical teams grow, learn, and succeed

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nurse Educator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing management of clinical education, onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and workforce development programs across the organization. This role supports a culture of continuous learning, patient safety, quality improvement, and integrated team-based care consistent with the principles of a Patient-Centered Medical Home and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model.

Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer, the Clinical Education Coordinator works collaboratively with operational, clinical, risk, compliance, quality, and human resources leaders to develop and maintain standardized clinical education infrastructure and competency processes that support high-quality, coordinated patient care across departments and disciplines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Exemplifies the Mission, Vision, Values, and Service Excellence standards of Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center.

• Maintains current knowledge of ambulatory care and FQHC best practices, regulatory and accreditation requirements, Patient-Centered Medical Home principles, chronic disease and population health management strategies, and evidence-based clinical practice; incorporates these principles into clinical education and workforce development initiatives across the organization.

• Coordinates and supports organization-wide clinical education processes, including onboarding, orientation, training assignments, competency tracking, and ongoing workforce development activities for clinical staff.

• Serves as the primary clinical educator for nursing and clinical support staff, with significant responsibility for development, facilitation, and evaluation of education, onboarding, competency validation, workflow training, and professional development activities for CMA, LPN, RN, and RN Case Management roles.

• Responsible for development and maintenance of nursing and clinical support staff competency frameworks, annual competency validation processes, skills checklists, training documentation, and education tracking systems.

• Provides nursing and clinical skills education related to patient assessment, triage, medication workflows, specimen collection, infection prevention practices, clinical procedures, equipment use, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements appropriate to role and scope of practice.

• Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to develop, standardize, implement, and continuously improve interdisciplinary education and competency programs that support safe, high-quality, integrated team-based patient care across departments.

• Assists leaders in identifying department-specific learning needs, skill gaps, workflow improvement opportunities, and regulatory training requirements across clinical and direct care support departments including laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, dietary, behavioral health, outreach and enrollment, patient navigation, patient services, referral coordination, and case management.

• Supports new employee clinical onboarding and orientation processes in partnership with Human Resources, department leaders, preceptors, and subject matter experts.

• Serves as clinical subject matter expert for the Relias learning management platform, including assignment development, reporting, learning pathways, competency tracking, documentation management, and user support.

• Supports training related to Electronic Health Record (EHR) utilization, clinical workflows, and documentation standards; functions as an EHR super-user and collaborates with operational and clinical leadership to support workflow education and optimization.

• Collaborates with Risk Management and Quality departments to support audits, observations, workflow reviews, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at identifying education opportunities and strengthening clinical practice, patient safety, and quality outcomes.

• Supports a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, accountability, patient safety, and respectful interdisciplinary teamwork.

• Prepares reports, education metrics, competency tracking data, and training compliance summaries as requested.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
