# MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Pay Range:

Pay Range:$26.06 - $36.08&amp;#xa;&amp;#xa;Maintenance Mechanics maintain, repair, and install equipment and components in the hospital, health centers, or other health care facilities at SEARHC. This position completes work orders for maintenance projects and completes all assigned preventive maintenance tasks performing a wide variety of general maintenance including special projects as directed. There may be on-call assigned by the Facility Manager/ Facility Supervisor as required by specific campuses. The position may be asked to travel to outlying communities to perform work.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

Maintain systems, equipment, and tools assigned by the Facility Manager/ Facility Supervisor. Schedule and complete formal documentation of work completed including collecting data for entry into the PM program.

Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair of systems and components. Troubleshoot and provide repairs of heating and cooling systems, boilers, plumbing systems, electrical systems and related equipment.

Perform duties as assigned through written and verbal requests from the facility manager/Facility Supervisor. Activities may include assisting with concrete repairs, floor coverings, installing doors, hanging items on walls, drywall repair, painting etc.

Complete work orders assigned in a timely and professional manner according to priority.

Operate various shop tools, heavy equipment if applicable; has a working knowledge of table saws, rip saws, jointers, planers, routers, etc. Forklift, dump truck and backhoe.

Capable of installing and repairing locks, door closers, and replacing lock cores. Responds to emergency requests, maintains records and supplies.

Maintains parking lots and entrances including snow plowing, applying non-slip materials during icy conditions, landscaping, removal of litter and organic material, lawn care, sign maintenance and stripe painting. These tasks will be assigned by the Facility Manager/Facility Supervisor.

Identifies and tracks supply needs, orders supplies and tools, research costs, and provides information for cost effective purchases.

Operates generators to maintain electrical power in case of power failure, performs routine maintenance and inspections.

Conducts special projects in-house under the direction of the Facility Manager/Facility Supervisor.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

High School diploma or GED - preferred

Valid driver’s license and remain insurable under the SEARHC automobile insurance policy – required

Complete Life Safety 101 course within 90 days of hire.

Complete Lockout Tagout online course within 90 days of hire.

Complete the eye wash weekly testing competency within 90 days.

Safety- 10-hour OSHA Competency completed within 90 days.

Experience

4 or more years of experience in facility maintenance

OR

2 years of experience with a Vocational School Degree

OR

documented trades based Military service

OR

a SEARHC Maintenance Mechanic II that has completed competency checklist.

Experience in other trades such as welding, heating HVAC, refrigeration and electrical troubleshooting - preferred.

Knowledge of

This position must be able to complete preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and equipment with minimal supervision.

The position must be able to perform repairs and installations on drywall, cabinets, countertops, woodworking etc.

The position must be able to complete preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and equipment with minimal supervision.

Computerized Direct Digital Controls DDC of facility heating, cooling and ventilation equipment.

Skills in

Troubleshooting and repair for mechanical, heating, cooling and electrical systems.

Understanding of mechanical system design and installation.

Safe use of equipment, tools, manuals, and schematics.

Verbal and written communication that includes emailing or texting

Ability to

Troubleshoot and complete assigned work with minimal over-the-shoulder assistance.

Maintain professional growth and development through in-service training, seminars, and workshops.

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot small engines, generators, landscaping equipment, chainsaws, snowblowers and hydraulic equipment.

Walk extensively on uneven terrain or slippery surfaces, work while bending, stooping, or reaching, and lift 50 lbs.

Safely, work on equipment in unstable conditions, climb in and out of dump trucks, bobcats, loaders, forklifts, and pick-up trucks.

Travel Required

Must be able to travel as needed.

Travel is by jet, small aircraft, and boat.

:

Driver License - State of Alaska, Eye Wash Competency - SEARHC, Life Safety 101 - National Fire Protection Association, Lockout Tagout - Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Safety - 10 hour Competency - Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
