The Department of Law, Criminal Division is recruiting for an Investigator 4 in Anchorage!

What You Will Be Doing:

You will be responsible for the effective management and training of five investigators within the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

You will establish and maintain procedural guidelines that ensure adherence to standards of professional conduct and federal grant requirements.

You will monitor investigations by examining case progression, quality, thoroughness and completeness.

You will establish and maintain professional relationships with federal and state law enforcement as well as federal and state agencies responsible for health care administration and oversight.

You will be responsible for all aspects of an investigation including evidence collection and its chain of custody, writing and executing search warrants, writing reports and testifying in court.

You can expect a 40 hour work week; 12 paid holidays; personal leave accrual starting at 6 hours per pay period (about 21 days annually), increasing with years of service. The general office hours are 8:00AM to 4:30PM but there is flexibility in establishing your regular hours around core business hours.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is located at 310 K Street, Ste. 308. The Unit has a collaborative team of 6 investigators, 3 attorneys, a forensic account, paralegal and law office assistant.

As an MFCU investigator, your work directly protects vulnerable Alaskans and ensures Medicaid resources go to providers who deliver safe, ethical care. You will handle complex cases involving healthcare fraud, patient abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. The work will provide you opporunities to collaborate with attorneys, auditors, medical professionals, and federal partners such as HHS-OIG or DOJ.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible investigative work experience performing duties such as locating and gathering information, evidence and/or testimony to be used in civil or criminal proceedings, administrative actions, or governmentally regulated activities which included preparing reports in support of attorneys or agencies engaged in administrative adjudication, and/or detecting and verify suspected fraud, licensing violations, and other violations of state law.

Definitions:

“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.

“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.

“Training” and “education” in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, on-line, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.

“Progressively responsible” means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility.
