Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla salary: $3,870.40 Fairbanks salary: $3,986.40 Juneau salary: $4,064.00 What you will be doing: This position is the section program manager for the Stormwater & Wetlands Section in the Wastewater Discharge Authorization Program. The position has statewide responsibilities for preventing pollution from storm water discharges and wetlands fill activities through permitting, regulatory compliance, stormwater controls, and education. The Wastewater Discharge Authorization Program accomplishes this mission by issuing technically accurate and legally defensible wastewater discharge permits in cooperation with industry; the federal government; local, regional, and tribal governments; public and private organizations; and concerned individuals to support sustainable development of state resources and fulfill the Division’s responsibility to protect the environment for the present and future generations. The Storm Water and Wetlands Section in the Wastewater Discharge Authorization Program has a strong reputation of providing technically accurate and legally defensible wastewater discharge permits that strike a balance between resource development and environmental protection. The working environment you can expect: The physical work location of this position will depend on the successful applicant, and will be in either Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, Wasilla, or Soldotna. There will also be telework options available to those that qualify. The work environment is friendly, professional, and collaborative with regular interaction with colleagues in the program, other programs within DEC, and with the general public. This position works with dedicated staff to develop, issue and manage wastewater discharge permits statewide. We are looking for a candidate that has experience in the following areas: Program Oversight: Plans, coordinates, and monitors programs to ensure that federal, state, and/or local government program requirements and plans are met, providing professional consultation on the specialized services of the program or associated project(s). Environmental Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources; and to monitor, control, abate, and prevent pollutants. Equivalent to those typically gained by: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an environmental, physical, biological, or natural science; engineering; planning; or natural resources. AND Experience managing the delivery of services in an environmental program and supervising professional level staff.
