WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

This position performs tasks under close supervision and guidance. The position will provide administrative and clerical support to the Division of Victim Assistance and Forensic Science, focusing on the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (DVSA) unit and the Missing Persons Clearinghouse (MPC). Responsibilities include coordinating statewide law enforcement and multidisciplinary training, maintaining records and certifications, and ensuring compliance with state statutes, department policies, and Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC) guidelines. The role also manages missing persons records in state and federal databases, requiring proficiency in APSIN, NCIC, ACADIS, ARMS, NamUs. Additional duties include supporting division-wide training efforts and assisting with special projects.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

This position is located at the Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory (Crime Lab), 4805 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, in Anchorage, nestled at the foot of the beautiful Chugach Mountains. The daily work environment consists of a small team of task-driven individuals. The incumbent will work closely with team members to support the mission. Travel may be required to fulfill job duties. Work outside of normal business hours may be needed on occasion.

Minimum Qualifications

CRIMINAL JUSTICE TECHNICIAN 1:

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE TECHNICIAN 2:

Successful completion of training under a formally established Criminal Justice Technician 1-2 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska;

OR

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
