Reports to: Boutique Director

Location: Anchorage, AK

Classification Non-Exempt

Status Part-time, 25-30 hours week/$20-$25 (with potential for full-time)

Beacon Hill Boutique is a resource dedicated to providing essential items to Foster Families, Kinship or Relative Providers, and Biological Families who may be struggling to make ends meet.

Position Summary

The Program Specialist will greet donors and families, manage the front desk and phones,

and perform admin support tasks. The Program Specialist will support the Boutique Director with everyday tasks, such as upkeeping of the Boutique, accepting and processing of donations, along with supporting families coming in for clothing voucher appointments.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Admin Responsibilities

• Manage and organize daily front reception area of Beacon Hill

• Greet and assist visitors, clients, and donors

• Answer phone, call-back voicemails, and direct phone calls, emails, and other

correspondence with correct Beacon Hill departments

• Assist with other admin tasks, as assigned

Boutique Responsibilities

• Oversee the proper handling and processing of incoming and outgoing donations:

receiving, sorting, and stocking of donated items.

• Communicate with the public about what donations we are currently accepting.

• Assist Boutique Director on communicating, receiving, and tracking clothing voucher

appointments and other essentials in close collaboration with referral agencies and

other Beacon Hill staff.

• Provide families with additional resources or referrals, if needed.

• Complete tasks assigned by Boutique Director accurately and efficiently.

• General upkeep of department, cleaning upstairs bathrooms, shelves, racks and

building maintenance, etc.

• Assist with volunteer coordination

• Attend all staff meetings and required trainings

Skills and Abilities

• Experience in the use of Microsoft office suite, Word, and meeting platforms (Zoom,

Teams, JotForm)

• Ability to safely pass background check

• Ability to calmly and flexibly adapt to last minute changes

• Ability to work independently or in a team setting

• Experience working with persons from diverse cultures and backgrounds

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Good time management and multi-tasking abilities

• A strong understanding of the current challenges faced by families in our community,

including issues related to housing instability, limited access to resources, and

financial hardship

• Must be self-motivated and possess the desire for self-development.

• Ability to react under pressure, use good judgement in ambiguous situations, and be

flexible/adaptable.

• Empathetic listening and clearly convey information

Position Requirements

High School Diplomaand one (1) or more years of admin or working in the social service field

with children and families.
